Since 1876 and through five generations of the Watkins Family, Watkins
Nurseries has been providing the finest in field grown
landscape-size plant material that has changed the face of America.Continuing the tradition today of supplying quality landscape stock, Watkins
enjoys the reputation of providing some of the finest specimen quality trees
available anywhere, as well as a full range of shrubs.
Produced on over 750 acres of cultivated nursery land in three Central Virginia
counties southwest of Richmond, Watkins prides itself not only on the delivery
of prime landscape plant material, but also on its historical leadership in the
nursery industry.
The fibrous, compact root system on our plants result from the clay loam in which we grow them. Since it resembles the soil of so many parts of the interior East as well as most urban areas, clay loam soil gives a head start to landscape plantings.
